The government has put out a Public Consultation Document (PDF file attached; can also be downloaded here http://www.mah.gov.on.ca/Page14965.aspx) “to support the review of the OMB. It provides context and direction. It gives background on Ontario’s land use planning system and on the OMB. It sets out possible changes being considered to improve the OMB’s role within the system as organized under the five key themes, and raises questions for consideration”.

More info:
– Newmarket was the first city to hold a OMB Review Town Hall – here is an article about the process and what the public feedback has been http://www.yorkregion.com/news-story/6919953-newmarket-omb-reform-town-hall-meeting-has-residents-calling-for-transparency/

– As mentioned above, besides attending the Town Hall, one can participate in other ways, i.e. send in written feedback, see here: http://www.mah.gov.on.ca/Page15023.aspx . The more input the better.

  1. Paul Farrelly says:

The devil is in the details

  2. jack gibney says:

Personal Concerns that I cannot see how to fit into the OMB questionnaire.

In Parkdale we face 4 development Proposals that have been strongly rejected by residents but which many expect the OMB will approve. Three in the Brock – Queen rail triangle and one at Dufferin and King.

    1. Can the OMB fund the consequences of their decisions, for example fund infrastructure, transit, schools etc. to support the thousands of condos they are forcing onto Toronto?

    2. Can the OMB become responsive to Heritage Preservation organizations that have no legal resources, (I. E. volunteers who cannot afford lawyers)?

    3. Can the OMB, appointed for life by the Lieutenant Governor in Council, be made a democratic organization, responsible to elected officials or the public?

Your feedback is important.
