How to Find Any Building Fast on Goads Maps 1884 – 1923.

Choose one of the Five Areas and follow one of the five links below. Each is an east -west strip.  The area-names are fairly arbitrary because the areas overlap. A series of maps follow to help you select the area you need. To get started, find your home or any spot of interest on one of the following area-maps. Notice the name of the map then select one of the following links to see the related maps in date order.

‘1. Brockton’ – north of the train subway
‘2. Roncesvalles’ – Westminster to Garden
‘3. Sunnyside’ – Garden to Queen
‘4. Parkdale’ – South of Queen.
‘0. High Park’

During this historic period population grew rapidly and municipal boundaries changed. As a result following the maps over these years has been difficult, until now. If you have a large screen click on any map to enter a full screen ‘carousel’. From the carousel look bottom right for an option to see even more detail!  These Goads Insurance Maps are public domain from the Toronto Archives.

Reading the Maps: Red buildings are brick or stone while yellow indicates wood or under construction.
