6 Noble St. Report & Heritage District Meeting Thursday 7PM

This is a report on the lively 6 Noble St meeting and a short Reminder about the West Queen West Heritage conservation district meeting Thurs June 23rd 7pm at The Theatre Centre 1115 Queen St West. Preserve Our Historic Village!

The standing room only crowd all spoke against the 6 Noble St Development Mon June 20th 2016.

The attendance peaked with 20 people standing in the Parkdale Library auditorium. The tone was serious and controlled. 6 Noble Street Developments Inc. outlined plans for a 14 story steel and glass tower overshadowing the oldest section of Historic Queen Street and local homes. (Pictures below.)

Several women took turns expressing high concern that traffic congestion at Noble and Queen would endanger school children.

Many objected to the 14 stories. Only Gord Perks was brave enough to even suggest a possible agreed height, ‘half’.  It appears to me that 7 stories would not be visible from the sidewalk on Queen.

There were questions about transit solutions but Gord advised he had little hope of getting anything at this time.  I read in today’s paper that Liberty Village And St Clair West may be receiving  SmartTrack stops. 4 new GO stations and all 6 SmartTrack stops announced

I plan a follow on article about the things that made our community grow including: Train Stations, Streetcars, Local jobs and access to lakeside recreation.

It takes a village to stay a village… good luck to residents seeking to preserve the integrity of Queen West and Sunnyside.
